Disappointing stay – several maintenance and cleanliness issues Negative: Unfortunately, our experience at this property was very disappointing. The location was not ideal, and we did not feel particularly comfortable in the area, with a number of people around the neighbourhood who made us feel uneasy. The bed linen was also very uncomfortable. There were polyester blankets placed between the sheets, which made for a rather unpleasant sleeping experience. When we first arrived, the garage was completely full of rubbish and unusable. It took approximately a week before it was cleared, meaning we were unable to use the garage for a significant portion of our stay. There was also a leaking toilet which resulted in water on the bathroom floor. This was eventually repaired, but it was another issue we had to deal with during our stay. The most disappointing part of the experience, however, was the deduction of $385 from our $500 security bond because the laundry door allegedly fell off. We sought a professional opinion from a locksmith, who confirmed that the issue was caused by the incorrect installation of the door handle. The handle had been installed sideways rather than horizontally, which contributed to the door mechanism failing. We feel the bond deduction was therefore unreasonable, particularly given that the problem was due to an installation fault rather than damage caused by us. Overall, there were too many maintenance and property issues for us to consider this a pleasant stay, and the handling of the security bond was particularly disappointing.
